Hello and welcome to my website!
Chances are you might need someone to talk to. Someone objective, compassionate and nonjudgmental. Someone to help you sort things out and help you identify what is holding you back and keeping you from living your best life. It takes courage to reach out and ask for help and looking for a therapist can be a challenging process. I hope this website will offer you some insight in terms of who I am as a therapist and the services that I offer. If you have any questions or need additional information, I encourage you to contact me. I'd be honored to help you on your journey to emotional well-being and self-acceptance.
Meet the Therapist
My name is Marlene Zerweck and I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) in Folsom, California. I am committed to helping you discover your strengths, identify and reach your personal goals, strengthen your relationships, and achieve emotional well-being. As a MFT I provide counseling services for child and adolescent behaviors, family and relationship conflicts, recovery from trauma, weight management, and navigating life transitions.
About Me
I hold a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from National University and a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies from Excelsior College. I am also certified by the American Council on Exercise as a Lifestyle and Weight Management Consultant and as a Personal Trainer. Prior to becoming a therapist (MFT), I worked in the information technology industry as an account executive and business development manager. I have extensive experience working with children, adolescents, families and individuals. I teach parent education and coach parents on new, positive ways to relate to their children using the Positive Discipline principles. My work includes helping individuals through life transitions such as family changes, ending or beginning relationships, career transitions and positive aging. My personal experiences as a business woman, daughter, mother, sister, and wife enables me to understand and be empathetic to your experiences.
My Philosophy
I value and honor the diversity of my clients. Listening to my client, being attentive, non-judgmental and present is of the utmost importance. Clients have described me as a gentle and compassionate listener, someone who is flexible to their preferences. I believe that everyone has the ability to find their own answers from within. I will support you and guide you in finding these answers. Whether my client is a child, adolescent, couple or individual, I help them to achieve the goals that are most important to them.
What is psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy is a process in which you and the therapist, in a safe and trusting environment, explore your issues and find ways to resolve them. The aim is to create a positive change so that you can experience all aspects of your life more fully. Psychotherapy can provide an opportunity to better and more deeply understand yourself and move on the path towards emotional well-being. Therapy is not always easy, but working through the challenge can be enlightening and filled with joy. It starts with a phone call.
